this is just overwhelmingly disproven by preseason + season 1/2/3 vs the rest
Now PVMers largely don't even bother playing the game(as in not even starting, as demonstrated by the last 4 seasons when botting became really bad and now the bots play the game from start to finish), and haven't even when content was new because there is no point grinding when a bot will > you easily

Been here since Day 1 D2r.
You will find people explicitly referencing this for why they don't want to start or why they have decided to quit. Botting is good for pvper as it makes the gear more available and at a certain threshold you just need some of the items(no point in pvping without the items). No bots mean those items don't exist in the supply required. You can mf in crap. Your pvm journey is extended by how long it takes to get reasonably geared, and is in effect pvm content. That content is dramatically shortened when you can just jsp it instantly for 500 fg 2 days in and everyone else can as well, and there is no reason not to do it unless you play ssf.

Game is dead now though, Poe2 might have finished it off or hastened the decline but this season pretty much confirms its terminal.
HCL will likely be pre d2r levels in 1-2 seasns tops(aka nobody)
