In other news isn't it funny how climate change now just isn't a thing and has been thrown down the memory hole?

Great relief

Right, this is an extremely important distinction to make.

If you have very high inflation but wages rising proportionately, it makes it so that saving or investing money is useless unless your returns will beat inflation. But it has no effect on the cost of living.

Contrast with recent Western inflation: wages have been completely stagnant for a long time, raising the cost of living. The magnitude of the inflation is much lower though, making it still feasible to save or invest.

In Canada, the minimum wage has increased proportionately with inflation so minimum wage earners have had a steady COL which is a good thing, but everything above minimum wage that isn't the trades or oilfields has been stagnant, which has caused a massive brain drain to the USA where people can get paid their value.

I don't know about Turkey's situation, if wages have risen or if they haven't

Yeah after and during the pandemic a lot of manufacturing people left their jobs to go flip burgers because the pay was the same.

Yup, I've brought that point up alot about Canada in recent years

There is zero incentive to educate oneself because the pay for a higher skilled job is only marginally higher than minimum wage. Thus, the juice isn't worth the squeeze when you consider the opportunity & real costs of the education. This is true for the vast majority of "university educated" jobs at the Bachelor's all the way to PhD level.

It has destroyed our country. It's a stark example of communist policy in action: no incentive to improve, every incentive to leave for greener pastures.

Sounds like Canada needs to build an "antifascist bulwark" very soon which prevents its citizens from voting with their feet protects its citizens from the ever-worsening fascism south of the border!

This is nothing unusual for Brazil, there was probably grants for it.
In the late 80's the IMF gave Brazil Billions of dollars to build a road to nowhere in the middle of the Amazon.
Then throughout the 90's leftists complained about very poor people in Brazil moving out of urban areas, traveling on this highway to clear a plot of jungle by burning it, and then farming the soil until they needed to burn a new fertile patch of Rainforest.

Tropical soil tends to be low on nutrients and not very fertile. Combined with the tropical climate, it's good enough for growing a dense jungle, but it's not suitable for intense agriculture.
