Picked up the Poppy Wars books when flying and have been binge reading.

Pretty enjoyable and much easier reading or a nice break from Malazan which I'm also going through now.

It had real potential to be exceptional, but it ended up just being pretty good. Feels actually unique and I couldn’t believe how genuinely funny a lot of it was, but oh my god every second of the movie with mark ruffalo or his wife in it is fucking garbage. He is terrible, the joke of a character he’s playing is so outlandish it feels like a completely different movie whenever he disgraces your screen. Instead of a cartoonishly goofy villain that didn’t even serve a real purpose in the story they could have focused on some of the far more interesting topics that they breezed over, like the ethics of clones existing or the variations between different copies

Still ended up as a ~7/10 that will definitely make you laugh, but it is a big missed opportunity
