Turkey had crazy inflation for years. Why hasn't Turkey collapsed while Russia will surely collapse (only ~10% inflation max and has tons of resources like oil / gold they can sell anywhere in the world for cold hard cash).
Turkey has persistently high inflation due to structural factors. This is different from inflation caused by wartime spending, which tends to be invisible until it one day pops out all at once, like a ketchup bottle.
Also, I never claimed that Russia will collapse, let alone "surely". What I have argued is that Russia's economy is showing signs of overheating and that it's questionable whether Russia could keep up the current pace for another couple of years.
Something is off with this case. The suspect has German citizenship (which doesn't mean jackshit these days...), but other than that, authorities have barely released any concrete info on him. No mugshot, no motivation, a lot is seemingly still up in the air right now. Yet they claim to be able to tell from the investigation so far that this was not a political or religious act. They say the suspect has been fined for online "hate speech" in 2018, but they also say there are no indications of a "right-wing populist mindset". That in and off itself is a major red flag if you ask me. The other types of legally relevant "hate speech" are almost always antisemitic or islamist in nature...
Currently, authorities are strongly going for the "psychologically disturbed" angle. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm very sceptical.
