I've used detectors that are worth almost $1000 that are wrong. Those pens are extra extra junk.

I wont use the electrical pens aswell. They can be super wrong and fk that. I use a fluke digital multimeter for that with an amp clip

Most places its illegal to do it yourself because natural gas systems need to have someone certified to work on them (gas ticket) and then they get inspected by a gas safety organization afterwards.
Fire because of uncertified gas work? No insurance, lots of fines, life ruined.
