I understand it’s a half-joke and just a negotiating tactics from Trump, but I started thinking about it in hypothetical terms, as a mental exercise. Wouldn’t it be beneficial for people living in Canada?

A lot of them already go to US for work anyway (e.g. Vancouver-Seattle). Salaries are better in US, it’s less of a woke hell, the language is the same (since even French Canadians learn English), currency is stronger. Probably most American corporations already operate in Canada and employ workers there. The pop culture is basically the same. And it’s not like Canada is independent of their Big Brother’s political will now anyway.

Also, to any Canadians reading this: could you explain why such an outrage in Canada after Trump’s offer? Is this mostly an emotional response or are there also some practical reasons of why would this be bad for you if you were to become US citizens? Genuinely interested.

America is worse on nearly every quality of life and happiness scale.

Dumber, shorter life span, less happy, less work life balance, and the list goes on.

No thanks.

plot twist, expect more Indian migrants to north america.

MIGA

Oh 100%. We'll eventually be kicked out of our own country by them because people were too coward and low testosterone to fight them and instead spent their lives online until the inevitable.

I've lived and worked in both countries. Canadian companies aren't competitive with their American counterparts, they're a decade behind in terms of technology, management, and productivity. Happiness metrics are meaningless and vary widely study to study. Life expectancy is largely a matter of lifestyle. This was an interesting conversation before the oil bust in 2014-2015, because the key metrics were a lot closer (e.g. median household income). They're not anymore, the bust exposed some very weak foundations.

Americans are overworked, underpaid, consume food that isn't fit for human consumption and are one medical condition away from bankruptcy at all times.

If you are a high income individual life would undoubtedly be better in some parts of the USA

If you are not high income (and 95% of jsp is in this category) then life would be better in Canada

Yes we have our problems with having gone too far left. Was hoping to get a conservative majority in even though I don't like pierre but that moron in the white house has messed everything up.

Canada has historically been the testing grounds for what the globalists plan to do to the US.

Canadian's are suffering under socialism.

To answer your question, no, but becoming part of the US isn't the solution.
Fixing your country by kicking all the socialists out of your government would be the correct first step.

Oh horse shit, zero of canadas issues are caused by socialism.

Not quite, doubling the usa booze price would be capitalism.

Taking the option away from the canadian people is clearly socialist.
