It's everywhere. The biggest problem is that most people are too busy trying to prove they are correct, rather than being open-minded and trying to listen to others instead. I try to constantly have a 50/50 philosophical approach to everything in life. 50% is experiences, opinions and what i consider to be the facts, and 50% i stay open to listen to others, to add to my experiences and keep shaping my opinions. It's a never ending process. Because even if you are 100% certain of something, someone else -may- have a slightly better version of the truth, so it's always useful to try to stay open and listen. But one should also be rock solid in one's own opinions, those first 50% one should work very hard at not sacrificing easy.

The biggest problem, again, are people that stay at 90/10 or even more, closer to 100/0, i.e. never listening to others and only thinking they are correct in everything they do. Never questioning their own judgment or anything they know. That's the biggest problem in the entire world. They are like the faulty cog wheels that don't want to adhere to others or work with others at all. Thus the entire system grinds to a halt.

The reason it is important to stay at least halfway open minded, is that, even if you know what the truth is, nobody is going to listen or take it in if they don't feel like you are listening to them. Nobody can receive anything in a closed fist, or a closed mind. So if you can get someone to open their mind, they can maybe receive some of the wisdom you have. Maybe, though, lol, that's the keyword. Because you will never know if anyone listens to your or not. But that is not for oneself to worry about. As a true soldier, warrior and general of life, one should only be concerned with fighting the good cause. Then maybe on your journey through life, you will have changed a few destinies for the better. Someone may have seen your wise way of reasoning, and become a true warrior themselves, as in before, they may have been too close minded, too rigid, and not taken a more holistic view in life - leaning on logical fallacies, instead of opening up and listening to their inner wisdom, and thus learning to decipher when others have wisdom.

Wisdom and intelligence - those are the anti-poison to logical fallacies. We should learn about this in school, like so many other important issues.

"ad hominem "
Ad hominem is a type of argument or attack that appeals to prejudice or feelings or irrelevantly impugns another person’s character instead of addressing the facts or claims made by the latter. It is considered a fallacy, as it attempts to discredit someone’s argument by personally attacking them rather than discussing the argument itself.

Example of adhominem: when christian or religious people call others as sinners, atheists, infidels etc for merely not believing their magical story.
Or when they lose an argument they snarkly reply ill pray for you or you are going to hell implying the person is bad or evil. Which is a personal attack

When asked why because their book says so.

If a child doesnt believe in santa claus and asks for evidence we call that a smart and perceptive child. We dont call them a sinner or evil infidel who should burn in fire for eternity.
But thats what creationists do they call others names and worse yet they physically attack others like fly planes into buildings instead of adressing the argument itself.

according to scripture we are all sinners. calling someone a atheist is a adhom? i believe infidel is a word muslims use?
'athiests use words like cretard, sky daddy, magic skydaddy. so stop acting so pious
christians believe we are all bad and evil so its not really a personal attack.
yes because the book says so. one studies the word one begins to have faith/trust in the word. if you wish to challenge the word please provide chapter verse version(translation) then your argument.
evidence would be presents under the tree. anyway no one believes in santa clause.
islam flies planes into buildings. only other belief that challenges islam for level of terror would be 'atheism. nothing has brought more horror to the world than 'atheism.

any way to stay on topic. for the most part your logical fallacies are "straw manning"
