Not particularly. If the crash has no political bearing, they usually have at least a preliminary report out within 24 hours. It's only politically charged cases and cases where the black box is extensively damaged where it tends to take a long time. And the box wasn't extensively damaged. According to reports, there was minor water leakage that will cause some of the cockpit audio to take longer. However, all the flight data, including which stick pointed the chopper dead center at a passenger jet they would absolutely have already extracted.

It's looking worse and worse for the "No no, it's not a DEI issue!" crowd. NGL.

Musk is using dei hires to replace fired FAA workers

Thank God for AI

The image shows Anthony Fauci at a Washington Nationals baseball game in July 2020.
Fauci was criticized for briefly removing his mask while seated outdoors with his wife and a friend.
He explained he took it down to drink water and called the criticism "mischievous."
The game was the season opener, and Fauci threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
At the time, mask-wearing was recommended but not mandated in outdoor settings where social distancing was possible.

That doesn't appear to be what the article says. Seems like he used the DEI hiring method to onboard them without needing to use the open application process, and in so doing, successfully brought in specialists that everyone involved is exceedingly happy with without having to weed through hundreds or thousands of less qualified applicants.

Interesting that all 4 are software engineers. Makes me think FAA systems may be overdue an upgrade.

Clever of him to use a DEI hiring standard to onboard them so quick.

You should read that again.

onboarded at the agency under Schedule A, a special authority that allows government managers to “hire persons with disabilities without requiring them to compete for the job,” according to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

And here I thought dei was illegal...

Indeed. That's what I just said. He used a DEI hiring method to onboard specialists without opening up the positions to general application. Takes time to interview a thousand applicants. Could be months before they'd fill the positions. Instead he filled the positions with specialists from SpaceX on short notice. Meaning they aren't DEI hires, but they were hired using DEI methods to bypass the competitive process.

It's clever, as I said. Now the onus is on them. If his SpaceX engineering squad doesn't accomplish shit quick, Elon may be hung out to dry for the method he used to hire them. Sounds like they're there to assess and fix a specific system that's been acting up for quite some time, that they (the FAA) couldn't find a solution for. At a guess, they'll either come up with a resolution relatively quickly, fix or at least design a fix for it, then resign and go back to SpaceX, or they'll fail, resign and go back to SpaceX. My read on it is that they're on loan. Could be wrong. We'll see. Thanks for tossing the article out there. Will keep an eye on it.

So he is saying his team has disabilities. Schedule a hires have disabilities.

But also, aren't dei programs illegal? So how is he hiring through them.

Perhaps they do. I don't see any evidence they do. Merely they were hired under that method, to prevent the delay the open application process (and its required open listing/competition) would cause.

I don't have an answer for you on that. I would have thought so. Hence why I said they best perform fast. Though I dunno if it was actually Elon who hired them. Could be the acting FAA director, in which case he takes the heat.

Masks were not mandatory at the time. There were plenty things done wrong. This wasn't one of them
