I don't get why Israel even wants the bodies back, if they were fine with killing them with bombs in the first place?

Yeah by your logic 1200 people died on Oct 7th because the IDF was firing artillery into occupied homes, shooting hostages, and raining down missiles on fleeing concert goers.
So of course any hostages killed by Israeli JDAM's is going to be Hamas fault too.

Oh come on dude nobody with a brain saw those Press releases of burned up charred bits of people and believed Hamas sat there all day cutting up, and charring peoples bodies with a blowtorch.
That's damage from Artillery and missiles, there are plenty of survivors from Kibbutz who came out and said that was exactly what happened.
The IDF even published videos of them attacking fleeing concert goers with Apaches.

I am not going to discuss conspiracies and Hamas propaganda.
