To be fair, the US Security State is also set up for arresting and/or killing dissidents. We aren't immune to that.

We just haven't relied on a foreign nation for all our military desires for the last 50 years, to the point that we can't man and equip our own wars. Or, you know, get to the point where we have to start selling off destroyers and carriers because we no longer have the people capable of crewing them.

Its pretty weird to see the republican party taking a full charge at supporting civil liberties and free speech while democrats and world neoliberals form a new confederacy in support of censorship and banning speech. Its lost the premise in specific causes, they ship weapons to Nazis while saying those politically opposed to supporting Nazis must be silenced because they are Nazis. They want to arrest people for every open ended form of being disruptive, they don't even care about hate speech or threats they are the party of luigi mangionis.

The Europeans are the biggest losers after Ukraine, they will need a decade or more to refill their military stockpiles and sort out their energy / production issues.

This is what you get when you keep cutting your defense spending in favor of left wing pet projects and are completely dependent on one large player for your defense.




Even the Poles are largely dependent on US made weapons and the US is going refill their own stockpiles first (and Israel's) Europe will be last.

We can't allow that sort of interference into our politics from an a post democratic country that is already trying to prosecute and silence the opposition. Leave a door open for USA once it decides to go back to a democracy.
