Your weakness is no different from the weakness that got us into this mess in the first place. It's not virtuous to not intervene when your fellow citizens are destroying and mutilating themselves. Likewise it's not virtuous for parents to enable self destructive behaviors in their kids.

I mean what does it say when the news the day after 'transgender victim raped, tortured and killed in apparent hate crime' the news is 'actually it was a group of trannies raping, torturing and killing one of their group'

The reason you can’t support this in any case is that every future administration will use the same powers. Same reason you have to support the freedom of speech of people who say things that you find repulsive. Every power you give to the government to impinge upon the rights of the individual will necessarily be abused.
