But we're Americans. We are specifically talking about race in the context of American history. If you say "white power" in Europe and in America you will be perceived as a racist. You know why. It's not about pride of heritage. It's always been about racism and superiority.

You don't seem to understand true human nature. People fought and expanded the areas where they lived in the past. There are reasons why Europeans won and pushed their culture east and west. They were more advanced in culture and science. This is fact. You can call that racist if you want, but imo that line of thought is simply against fact. What you call 'white people' and the racist 'white power' created America. Without Europeans coming here, it would not exist as it does today.

Very bullshit, tbh

Too cynical tbh. I'd like to quote my boy js mill

“I acknowledge that the tendency of all opinions to become sectarian is not cured by the freest discussion, but is often heightened and exacerbated thereby; the truth which ought to have been, but was not, seen, being rejected all the more violently because proclaimed by persons regarded as opponents. But it is not on the impassioned partisan, it is on the calmer and more disinterested bystander, that this collision of opinions works its salutary effect. Not the violent conflict between parts of the truth, but the quiet suppression of half of it, is the formidable evil: there is always hope when people are forced to listen to both sides; it is when they attend only to one that errors harden into prejudices, and truth itself ceases to have the effect of truth, by being exaggerated into falsehood.”

Seeing folks with strong opposing opinions debate hot topics has certainly inspired me to think differently about them, or in some cases find a book about the subject to read.

People should say what they truly believe, without fear or favour

The problem is fear and favour, and the fear is usually legitimate. The left intentionally ruins your life if you express dissident beliefs

Yeah absolutely, state punishment has being going on for decades

That's not even mentioning social ostracization for voicing "wrong" beliefs, the universities are notorious for this.

Yeah and in far-right theocratic states you get punished for heresy. What is your point?

The Western free speech covenant was violated by the left, not the right

It is of course correct that right wing regimes can also be censorship regimes. Islamic states are the obvious example

Authoritarianism and attacks on individualism are not inherently left or right wing. There are forms in every single government that can be pointed to. If you attempt to make one side out as more punishing towards individualism you are being either A: dishonest or B: ignorant

Yeah and a lot of Christian conservatives like to poke fun at the awful laws in Islamic states whilst holding a double standard for their own theocratic laws. Not all Christians of course. But especially an American brand.
