I've gotten far more leftwing as I've gotten older. The whole "people get more conservative as they age," is copium. A lot of the leftists from the 1960s were either imprisoned or killed by the US government. Reactionaries were allowed to continue doing whatever they want. If the Oklahoma City Bombing was carried out by environmentalists or queer rights advocates instead of a white supremacist sovcit, every environmentalist or LGBTQ+ person would have been rounded up and shot.
Anywho. I've just outgrown PaRD. There's nothing to be gained by debating with rightoids anywhere, especially a 2003 Turkish hamster wheel enthusiast bot and trading forum. The average rightoid, especially the ones on JSP, is so politically illiterate, you can use the phrase "not even wrong" to describe them. It's not worth the effort explaining why they're wrong, because they will ignore everything you say and act like they've won (when you're not even competing for anything). I've linked literal peer-reviewed studies, speeches/interviews with various credible people, and so on only for the conservative to learn nothing and continue spouting their views.
It doesn't help how hostile this place is to anyone who isn't a cishet male WASP. People say the most racist, misogynistic, homophobic, Islamophobic, and transphobic shit here with zero consequences. If anyone else makes a mild joke about the in-group, immediate suspension and warn. I have noticed less antisemitism on JSP over the years, but there's still literal nazis allowed to wander around on the site.
I suspect a lot of other leftwing and progressive posters feel the same. Time is better spent elsewhere, rather than being terminally online posting in an obscure forum.
