Nothing speaks against that.
The problem i see is:
1) There is a legislative procedure to do that, which they are ignoring atm.
2) It's done mainly by a private person. There is zero control or insight on what he does.
3) Every expense is framed as fraud
4) It's easy to talk about "fraud", "waste", "bloat", but nobody is assessing the long term effects. They find spending that sounds obviously stupid and use it as excuse to cut 10 other spendings that might not sound bad at all. China is willingly replacing many USAID fundings and there is a reason to that.
1.All DOGE has the authority to do is make recommendations based on their findings, they do not actually have the authority to get rid of department of Education or USAID, etc. What they can do is say hey look at all this waste, look at where this money is going. Based on their findings, the legislative branch as you say is now taking action:
Quote
WASHINGTON — Reps. Chip Roy (TX-21) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) introduced legislation on Friday to permanently abolish the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) — thereby ending decades of wasteful and corrupt federal spending.
The two-page bill would immediately halt all taxpayer funding to USAID upon passage, and would simultaneously claw back any USAID grant funds not already sent out.
2.It's not done by a private person, it's done with full transparency, over these weeks we saw transparency where USAID is sending tens of billions, this transparency wasn't there before. See above who actually proposes these changes
3. Not every expense is framed as a fraud. Even if it's not fraud that doesn't somehow legitimize sending millions for DEI/LGBTQ/other nonsense all over the globe.
4. The long term effects of lowering waste is that we get our budget closer to being balanced. You can not sustain running 2 trillion dollar deficits year after year piling onto the debt of 36 trillion. It's not sustainable, and keeping this track is infinitely more impactful to the 330 million Americans than 50 or 100k government employees losing their jobs.
The time for endless talks to stall action while we just continue adding debt is over. This stall tactic has been used over and over, Americans are tired of inaction. Whether it's the border, or waste or fill in the blank we want to see drastic changes, not the same bullshit of politicians saying they are doing something yet it remains an issued year after year.
