Tbh i don't care about your obsession with Elon, what i care is if the cuts are made or not. That's it, full stop, will he accomplish large scale cuts or not. Frankly it doesn't matter who's making the cuts as long as they are making the cuts. I don't care about his drug problems or whatever other qualm you highlight which is laughable in scope to what is actually in scope here, what i care about if we can change the economic trajectory of this country and get it towards a balanced budget.

Again look past the person and ask yourself if this is good for America or not.

since when does criticism = obsession? its one thing I don't understand about the MAGA crowd; any criticism, valid or not, is eschewed and thrown in the trash. only full allegiance and support are accepted, you're not allowed to question anything. sounds cultish, doesn't it?

so you dont care what he cuts, or how, as long as he does it? does that sound sane to you?
you also dont care if the richest person in the world, who is also in control over certain areas of our government, has a fucking drug problem? you just straight up dont care?

LOL

"look passed the person ...." nah dude, I dont practice the same magical thinking like you do. im seeing with my own two eyes and Elon is a conman

you want to fix the deficit? mega billionaire weirdos like Musk and Trump need to start paying their fair share instead of placing the burden on the working class. full fucking stop

You're crying about cuts that would lower our deficit from a whopping 2 trillion to 1 trillion and your continual criticism is because of the person implementing the cuts. It's not a serious argument. I care about the country, and hope you and your kids benefit from this move towards sustainability, while you are seething about a person you don't like. Unhinged tbh.

why arent any MAGAts willing to have a human discussion with actual back and forth?

It's not valid criticism, its almost always the following strawman argument format *Insert random talking point, Orange Man Bad!*
You're just lying to each other at this point, because every one else has tuned out of that bullshit years, and years ago.
The correct response to this format being presented as some 'shocking' news story, is coming up with the most politically incorrect hypothesis for how far from the truth the story really is, and being vindicated every time.
There is valid criticism, but you, your party, your news media will never make it.

Even if they fail to reach 1 trillion in cuts and let’s say only get 500Bn, it’s still better than nothing. Why would incremental progress not be better than no progress at all?

Cutting spending in a vacuum isn’t bad as long as the repercussions are acceptable. And the us currently spends way too much money. I think people just have unrealistic expectations of what is being accomplished. The entire USAID budget accounts for roughly 0.5% of the total us budget. The federal worker reductions that are being discussed would shed roughly 0.03% of the federal budget.

So if they trim USAID, get some workers to quit and do a few other things and trim the US budget by say 0.1% and cause a bunch of disruptions and pain was it a success?

Idk, maybe. I think a lot of folks are just like “spending=bad, cut spending=good” without any context of what is actually being done.

Which the us spends way too much money. But is taking a random machete to few random things without any forethought and then declaring ultimate victory a success? IDK… again, maybe?

Runaway spending= bad

It's completely unjustified. We've said it before, USAID is just one aspect of the cuts that's getting a ton of publicity because some of that spend was truly monumentally corrupt. Here's the federal budget by year since 2019. Why should the American people accept over 60% increase in budget since 2019? What services or benefits can you point to since 2019 that you could say you're better off? Covid is long gone, so why does the government continue to spend at this elevated level? No one saying get back to a budget of 4-5 trillion, but why not at least try to at least make some headway into the deficit?
