Starting with low hanging fruit imo. I 100% agree that they should audit the shit out of defense spending which if I had to guess will make usaid look like Childs play, but that part of the swamp has teeth actually.

Like OTV says, low hanging fruit. The DoD budget has too many sacred cows for senators and congressmen, politicians from both sides have been dishing out pork for decades. Its too politically toxic to take on. The real issue with USAID is its been one sided graft, exclusively puppeteered by democrats to steer taxpayer funds to their causes, their friends, their kickbacks. Transgender operas, foreign DEI, ukrainian propaganda, condoms for the taliban. This was a powder keg of hubris just waiting to explode. I'm shocked the democrats never realized how exposed their slush fund would be if they kept it to themselves and didn't share with the other side.

Yeah so much of what doge is doing is just noise. Only 3% of the governments budget goes to salaries yet there is a huge push to reduce the size of the federal workforce because it sounds good on the surface unless you dig deeper.

Too much resistance, litigation, not a shock and awe initial headlines that they need to win hearts and minds.



I recall reading a book with an old article written by Mike Royko where this political organization are writing to him, asking advice about the trouble they have getting the Illinois Legislature to look at, let alone pass their bill.
He writes about the advice he gave them on how to do this cheaper, asking first if they made The Drop?
Then explaining to them what the drop is, giving a bag of money to the speaker to doll out to everyone who votes.
His words of caution were that the important thing is that every ones hand is in the pot some get $200 others get $50, and the other important thing was to never give them too much money, or else a few might get scared off thinking what they were doing is wrong.
This went on in Illinois into the early 2000's, I cannot imagine they are not going to find a ton of kickbacks from this US Aid slush fund.
