Yea it was a really good one and another beautiful goal.
Despite the OT loses, the caps are battling and picking up the points.
Let’s go CAPS!

They had no business earning a point in either of the last 2 but fought their way back to earn them! Tough losses but points are points. Have to play a full 60 minutes. Can’t win playing 20 minutes of hockey every game.

Goal is a goal…after so many in 20 years, who is to judge a few freebees?

Convincing win for sure, the group just had to stay tight- regular season is just that, but we all know, the playoffs is a different animal.

Let’s go CAPs, 17 more for the Great8

yeah you can tell that they look to feed him the empty netters any chance they get

nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I'd like to see him break the record on a "real" goal personally

will be interesting to see if he can get it by the end of the season, with the pace he's on lately it should be close

It’s hard to score any night in this league.
I find it amazing that he’s closing out on such a record…I don’t think goal keepers during Gretzky’s day were what goal keepers are today.
Plus- Ovi has scored some really good looking shots this season, most notably the game winner vs Ottawa in OT and the recent shot vs Ottawa that sent them to OT. I was lucky to see him score and the caps demolish the blue jackets when they came to Washington. I’m going to try and get some last season game tickets, would be a dream to be there when he breaks the record

I’m trying to say that goal keeping has improved in so many ways.
Not taking anything away from Gretzky, but I do believe it was harder to score goals as time went on.

It makes Ovi’s feat that much more impressive.
I don’t know if anyone is ever going to touch Gretzky’s assists, points or points in a season for a very long time. Not sure if we will see 200 pts seasons from any players anytime soon.

Not just that, but athletes in general are far better now than during Gretzky's time. Most of em smoked and played it like a hobby or like a side gig. Chelios got the career he did by bullshitting haha.
