Then why is Trump rambling on about fentanyl of that's not the issue? What type of non-existing threat to Canada are you referring to where the US would need to intervene? Our countries already help each other out when there are natural disasters, but it's not like an invasion is expected. Judging by the numbers our borders seem to be more secure than yours as a whole.
The world order is changing. A false sense of security will lead to disappointment later.
Fentanyl is a problem. It’s coming across our borders killing our people. (Although imo Canada does a much better job of this than Mexico). Naturally the US expects our neighbors to pull weight the same way when Russia breaks Alaska or Canadian air space the US AND CANADA both scramble jets.
I get the sense of “pride” but it’s still an issue. Admittedly by all 3 governments. The US has busted several thousand shipments of this crap at BOTH borders. It’s well accepted. Regardless of political views it’s an issue. Anyone who doesn’t think it’s an issue is essentially spitting on graves.
Two threats that both happened last year Russia breaking into air space. Chinese spy balloon breaking into air space. BOTH in the US and Canada. Now, we can say it’s not a threat I guess. But that’s opinion. Both militaries considered it a threat enough to react.
Personally, I’m proud of these three leaders coming together to act fast so people don’t suffer. (More proud of Canada and Mexico as for Trump this was more of a tantrum to get his view heard). The ends justify the means.
