Sounds like the Mavs were fed up with Luka and his conditioning issues and weight concerns.

AD has been wanting to play the 4, which he refers to as his natural position. He has made that clear. This allows him to do that. Dallas should be nice.

Lakers win long term, Mavs win now.

Rockets at full strength will absolutely destroy the Mavericks if they meet in the first round of the playoffs.
The main reason I was even remotely afraid of the Dallas Mavericks was because of Luka's pure greatness!!
And yes. Before somebody mentions tonight's game. No excuses. But we need Sengun and Jabari to return.

How are the Los Angeles Lakers so damn lucky? Not saying AD is a slouch by any means. Dallas will still be good.
But the Lakers are now set up to be a factor for many more years now. Even after LeBron James decides to retire.
Luka Doncic is six years younger than Anthony Davis. The Lakers just traded a piece of silver for a plate of gold....

If you're the Lakers why even stop there? If you can trade an aging 40-year-old LeBron for another young star.
If some team out there is really as dumb as the Dallas Mavericks and will take on old for young. Why not trade?

Apparently the Lakers seem to find these incredible deals. I'm giving the Lakers front office an A+ for this trade.

Dallas has given up on winning some NBA Titles. All they're going to be now is a first-round exit with too many big egos.
Who's running the Dallas Mavericks? Mark Cuban is less involved and sold a big portion of his share in the team didn't he?

The Mavericks approached the Lakers recently and offered Luka Doncic, sources tell ESPN. Lakers brass met and believed the 25-year-old Doncic has the ability to be the face of their franchise for the next decade while giving Anthony Davis a win-now move in Dallas.

Even as a Houston Rockets fan who feels the team shouldn't rush into any crazy trades right now being as young as they are.
Had the Dallas Mavericks offered Luka Doncic, a young superstar with many prime years still ahead, I'd have been interested!!
If you had asked me last week which players in the NBA are untradeable and untouchable. Luka would've been on my Top 3 list.

If the Mavericks would have let other teams know they were open to trading Luka Doncic, rivals were willing to offer significant building blocks and historic hauls on draft picks. Instead, Dallas prioritized acquiring Anthony Davis as their No. 1 target in any deal for Doncic.

Wow! I'm kind of glad Dallas was set on Anthony Davis. Who will be 32 years old next month. AD will be 35 his next free agency period.
And he'll be making salaries of near $63 million dollars his final year. By then I doubt he's even going to be anywhere as good as he is now.

Who really knows what teams would've offered? if the Mavericks were wise they could've cleaned up on this historic trade. Landing AD is okay.
I just feel like you've got to get a much better haul in return for a 25-year-old global superstar. You just have to get more. Lakers cleaned up!!

Honestly I'm jealous of the Lakers right now. Because the Rockets could've hypothetically put together a much better trade package for Luka Doncic. Not saying I'd have been interested in gutting our fine young roster full of future all-stars and unprotected Phoenix Suns first-round picks and swaps. But again, Luka is 26 years old soon, and this wouldn't be like trading for a 35-year-old disgruntled Jimmy Butler. Luka Doncic is a superstar very much in his prime. He's going to be absolutely sensational for another ten years. The Lakers came away like outrageous bandits in this trade. Anthony Davis will be aging pretty damn fast by the end of his current contract.

I'm over here all sad because the Rockets have lost two games in a row while missing Alperen Sengun.

But then that David Benavidez fight got me super excited! Then this NBA trade happened. That's crazy.
I don't even want to do anything now. But I'll probably play Diablo 3 and then Hardcore Ladder Slasher.

But in the end it's an awful trade for Dallas. I think the Lakers are set up to contend for many years now.
I thought the Lakers would go through a rebuilding phase in a few years when LeBron is 42 years old...

Jeez. Anyway. I think the Rockets should do absolutely nothing crazy at the trade deadline. Let's see how the playoffs turn out.
Getting back Alperen Sengun (hopefully Monday vs. the Knicks) and Jabari Smith Jr. (next month) are like two big trades for free.

What build will you go for on d3
