For anybody too lazy to read the full link, those are the relevant numbers. I think it is somewhat safe to assume that at least a handful of those children will regret their surgery and that's a shame.

How this is the one topic you all care about the most is somewhat baffling though. Gun violence is much more prevalent ( There were 2,526 gun deaths in 2022 among 1- to 17-year-olds, averaging to nearly 7 per day.) and you all seem fine wuth that for some reason.

*Short answer to your question is because all those kids are black, the same reason most school shootings and mass shooting never make it past the local news.
The U.S. Govenrment seems fine with the recent added 4,000+ per year Motor Vehicle fatalities due to CAFE standards.
In fact they are looking to increase and grow that number over the coming decade.
Not to mention the completely unfair burden placed on the poor consumer of having a more expensive vehicle that won't last as long.
