Just a quick general question. How much do people usually charge for avatars banners and sigs.

All depend on the graphic designer and the combo (Signature+avatar) itself.

For example:
Animated sigs
1-5k

Non animated
500-2k

But all depends.

I recomend you to first of all choose a graphic designer that you like and then ask him what would cost for him to work your idea.
If you don't want to choose a specific graphic designer just post your idea and budget on GFX Request section and I'm sure a few people will attempt it (and then you can decide which one of those you wanna buy).
