Research cost on soviet age technology?
Anyway its possible countries spent billions helping Ukraine, but by doing it we are protecting our own existence and trillion figures in income. EU yearly GDP is 20 trillion dollars. What are some billions compared with that?
The world also promised Ukraine that they will be safe, so they agreed to give up nukes.
Its important to give Ukraine assistance to make it an example that you can be actually safe without nukes, that other countries will help you if something bad happens to you (Russia attack). the less countries have nukes the better for everyone, but countries need other safety for them, they need an alternative to nukes.
If you believe these weapons just spawned somewhere without R&D involved (like in Fortnight) well you're wrong. Both the West and the USSR spent fortunes on R&D, you should check these simple facts
The EU does NOT have trillions to spare. As a matter of fact all these countries are already overspending, all countries are piling up debt, biggest net contributor Germany has got a gaping hole in the budget which caused their three party coalition to collapse. Do you follow the news?
Do you get it? All of that GDP is already allocated, already spent basically and they need to pile up debt in order to fund outrageous projects like the war in Ukraine. And good luck if you try to take away a little from lets say schooling or healthcare, you'll have the people rallying in the streets you know what that means in a democracy right?
