Little did he know Germans never planned on granting him and his cronies independence as they were all considered untermenschen - not eligible for germanisation. It was too late when he realized that - which landed him straight in a concentration camp towards the end of the war.

Take us out and Germany has to increase their military spending by about 40bln, as they would be EU border country by then.
So we save them 15bln EUR (40 bln EUR - 25 bln EUR they send to EU).
So we got absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Other european countries should be more ashamed that they cut their military budgets and rely on USA, Ukraine, Poland and some other countries for their own security.
