Again, I don't care about the story. I am taking issues with you who clearly has no idea about any northern towns.

Hope that's fairly clear.

Its when people talk with such authority about something they have no knowledge of. We have moved in that direction terribly, everyone does it with such conviction.

Not believing an article , sure. Blabbing about how hur dur how could anyone believe there's homeless around in the cold when we suffer so badly from homeless problems up here, that's another.

It's a small community, referring to someone's dead beat or alcoholic uncle as homeless and a drug addict for media effect is dishonest, and again purposeful, as to minimize and scoff at local support and basically frame it in a way that this support was bought with promise of lunch. Lets say that person is poor, homeless, whatever, i guess their support can be discarded then because not the 'right' cohort showed up or?

Semantics of homelessness don't mean shit, you're getting stuck on tangents.

No, I not stuck on tangents. I am calling you out for your dumbass comment.

Two things can happen at once. You can not believe the Guardian published the truth and you can make a stupid ass comment about how it all seems not plausible because homeless people don't go around outside in the cold.

You don't know shit about the north so just don't speak with conviction on what you don't know. Easy peasy and a lesson we should all learn.

Now I am going to walk to the gym in my normal ass work pants, then go walk the dog for an hour at -50f. That must boggle the fucking mind of Americans.

Fortunately,

In 2021, 181,000 workers in the United States earned the prevailing federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour2. This represents fewer than 0.5 percent of all workers1.

Dawg, no one cares about how much you know about the north, I'm glad you're so knowledgeable, but gain this is semantics. The purpose of this article which you shared and is somehow front page news on Guardian website was to discount local support and scoff at it.

This is same tier of journalism of Trump drinking with two hands or Trump golfing. No quicker way to show that you're tabloid garbage and not be taken seriously than to have this level of dumb-fuckery on your front page.

Correct. They cant post an article that may or may not be true at all and you can make dumb comments that you would know are entirely fucking stupid if you had ever stepped into anywhere Northern and I can call that out.

Everything can happen at once and frankly the issue of people talking about something they have no clue about is probably just as much of a media issue as stupid shit like the Guardian would pull because it leads to people talking about things with conviction and people who are none the wiser will just take it as fact.

"oh yea void makes a good point why would homeless people be outside in Nuuk Greenland its cold there, therefore yeah he's right it probably isn't true!" When that in fact is not even remotely close to a valid reason as to why it might not be true because we have rampant homelessness.

People do this shit all the time, this one just happens to be close to home.

Oh and as far as plausibility goes. We use food and prizes all the time. You need public hearings and support for development and the only way to get engagement is food and prizes.

If you really want to educate yourself the the prior election for NTI which represent Inuit had 17% voter turnout.

This year to get more voter engagement that gave out 100 dollar gift cards. Look it up if you don't believe.

In the north to get support we often give food, money or prizes.

Again not saying if the article is true or not but that is very common across the north. Even for elections. In my opinion it's a mockery of democracy but that's just how she goes here.

Are on the spectrum? I genuinely can't otherwise understand this fixation to prove that these are totally homeless people.

I mean in my city its been sub-20 for the last week and i've seen a total of zero homeless people, and it's always the case in the winter for decades I've lived here, but sure I'll believe he totally stumbled on a bunch on random homeless and druggies folks based on some Dane's account.

But again, let's say this story is somewhat accurate and these were a bunch of randoms they randomly found to just show numbers (while calling them homeless or druggies was added for effect), it's still completely retarded for this level of non-news to be made into a front page story.

edit: And this was posted in this thread, i mean look at the video. Literally half the people there are holding up smart phones, well dressed, smiling, one guy looks like he hasn't missed a meal in a decade.

Not the typical homeless person profile we expect in the US.

Again the Guardian could be 100% just making shit up. They have been left leaning for years but it's also incredibly easy to get support with a meal and round people up of which some could be homeless some not.

It will take a local article and interview of some with local peoples comments and you will know better.

Microsoft has translate for us now wouldn't be surprised if that do for Greenlandic, just run local articles and comments through it.

I read this and while understand an outsiders view, its amazing how once one moves to said "shithole" and live theres for 10 years how much you view everywhere else as shitholes. For instance, I cant go to a city, suburbia, or fuck anywhere that has 3 story buildings outside some little mountain towns and not think what a fucking shit hole everywhere is. Disgusting vanity driven dystopian depressing dumps.

And greenland is leaps and bounds more developed than where I hail from.

Greenland, Labrador, Nunavik, Nunavut, NWT, Yukon, Alaska. Top places on earth to live imo, but yes most suffer terribly from poverty and the negatives that come with such poverty.

I understand you, but I'd rather have the same lifestyle where it's warm.

I've never found it. Because it's a combination of things. There's no park rangers, no dfo no forestry, I pull out of my yard by skidoo towing my komotik with zero restrictions. There's some very very light hunting rules but they're minimal and you can basically do anything with permissions from the hunters and trappers organization.

I have never found a similar level of total freedom, you want that spot, build a cabin on it. It's unparalleled. So few people so there's no real consequences of being so lax. Like you could never be that lax elsewhere due to larger populations in the premise but you look at the size of Nunavut and it has 39k people with 9 of them being in Iqaluit that's quite the landmass, there's really no concern of people doing things.

Some sick places in the southern provinces though. If you ever get the chance to go to places like fond-du-lac in northern Sask it's beautiful country in the winter.
