The fact that other ethnic groups openly discriminate against those outside their group, and favour those within, proves my point about standards. Anti-discrimination on the basis of race is a White standard. That standard is not held by non-whites - they don't see a problem with it.

Equal partner or state. Currently, Canada is largely reliant on US protection - same as NATO. Except the US cares a lot more about Canada than any NATO country due to its proximity. I believe that they have gotten complacent. Easy to do so when your only significant neighbor is your ally and one of the most powerful countries in the world.

Canadians would need to provide ALL the beaver pelts to the US to gain protectorate status. Statehood? Never. We don't need another 40 million Marxist voters tyvm.

There is every benefit to the people of Canada were the US to actually bring them into the US. There's zero benefit to Americans. Our current environmental regulations would actively prevent us from using the natural resources of Canada to recoup our costs, and the voter base we'd inherit would insure that "progressives" aka Marxists, would win every election for the next century.

The endgame of Canada "becoming a state" would be the death of the Constitutional Republic that is the United States, and the full bore creation of the United Socialist States of America. Ever think the USSR was bad? Just WAIT until you see what the USSA turns into, with our massive armament and the protection of the planet's two greatest oceans, as well as military bases in the majority of countries and on every populated continent. It'll be great!

I doubt that adding a 51st state which is similar to California in terms of population size and ideological leaning is the brilliant move some conservatives think it it.

With Canada added to the mix, the center of political gravity in the new, expanded US would shift significantly to the left. With its current positioning, the GOP would have no chance whatsoever at winning the House anymore if Canada became the 51st state.
