Im playing hardcore and i see many videos about nova sorc , but my question is this...do i need 75 res on Light-fire-cold or with my poison capped im fine since i get shot on mana shield?

no, and you probably can't reach max res without sacrificing both damage and mana, making your nova even less safe.

you can go for a bit of fire res from boots/inv/maybe amu. avoid soul areas

try to reach lvl40 es to get 95%

than u dont need any fhr and ele res - just cap ur psn res and length

but be sure, whenever ur es shield goes off - u r at least close to get death experience

don't forget about defense! very important when you are tele-stomping onto monsters, especially for hardcore!
fortitude is great because it has a very high def rating (almost 1700 in a superior ap) but also you get the free level 15 chilling armour proc which lets you scale your defense without adding points in the cold skills tree.
also eth treks are a very nice option!

if you have a bo barb then you've got access to high level shout as well and it may even be worth getting a defiance merc - with level 15 ca active, shout and defiance my sorc has almost 25k defense! don't have to worry about getting pk'd by bvc cause they can't hit you!

Definatly shoot for 86 fhr bp if on hc
