originally when the game first released the only barrier for stats on drops was the level of your character. although they also changed what could drop at level 1.

so back in the day, a level 1 character could ONLY find tier 1 items with a maximum of 5 stats or 20ee.
A level 20 character however could find tier 1's with 80ee/20 stats.

so in short all the unspawns are all items found on a very old version with higher level characters.

nothing to do with magic luck, although i believe it worked similar to as it does today.

the mute system was also different where the skill didn't exist, anyone could mute anything and there were even some special recipes.
So the general idea was to get a level 70 character and then buy up all the marketplace of tier 1's and 2's and 3's and spam mutes to get godly level 1 items.
Although to reach level 70 was a mega challenge back then, seeing at level the best drop you could get would be a level 40 weapon and it's ee would also be capped pretty hard.
This is why you don't really see many enormous ee items from way back, they generally came in a bit later.

IIRC most of the unspawnables were actually from the era where 61 was the MQ but I could be wrong. Crazy to think what the game was in the original version compared to now.

I will admit it's going back long enough that i don't have the exact answer. I didn't play much back then.

Someone could probably correct me, but i think that was the main gist of things

I didn’t play back then, but this is what I have gathered from various sources which is also the reason why you don’t see unspawns with tier XIII and XIV stats.
