If you downloaded POE through Steam............... you are compromised.

This has been happening for awhile. You are only protected if you are poor or SSF and don't trade. GGG is still working on it.

After doing some research, there's no exact cause for this exploit yet.

Some says its a game session hack.

Some people are getting account hacked, and losing valuables from stash and inventory.

Things that might help prevent this:
-Change your poe2 and steam acc pw.
-Turn on 2FA login security in steam.
-Set hideout to friends only, and try to trade in public towns.
-Avoid big value trades from poe2 trade site for a while. Especially from player names you can't read, not in English anyway. Trade at your own risk.

Also, there are ppl who are getting locked by GGG for being hacked after reportig in poe site, for a long time of investigation it seems. On top of big backlog of other reported issues.

Yup, do not invite people into your hideout. I hear a user trading with someone and that particular person invited 3 to 4 friends into his hideout all of a sudden. he kicked them out of party straightaway and stopped trading.
Whether English or not it doesn't matter.

I think this group of hackers are Russians, Chinese, Koreans and EU / American dudes. So it is a worldwide thing. No one is safe except for JSP.

Got it, good to know. Im still new to poe2, didnt play the first one. I'll stay poor budget mode then, lol.

So non-steam accounts are safer? I might use my spare ea key to make a new account later direct poe site only.

I see, but exploits seem to usually start outside of EU/NA, xD

They do, Taiwanese and China Chinese are crazy when it comes to this. But if you can't read mandarin you don't really know.
The scammers from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau will use traditional Chinese names and write in Traditional Chinese

The Bat Boys from China will use Simplified Chinese.
So if you see anything that is " Chinese " at the moment don't trade.
The good traders from these countries only trade amongst themselves most of the time.

Even the Koreans you have to be careful. The Japanese are ok so far , traded with a few GM ones.

I played POE 1 for 3 to 4 years, but I don't trade much. The trading system sucks. They should just hook up with Paul and let people trade on JSP.
