Yes. But a healthy Rockets and Mavericks team will be in the mix by the playoffs. I like Dallas a lot when they're healthy. The Rockets may be a year ahead of schedule, and the injuries to Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason are frustrating (Tari is another solid defender), but it's fun to watch! That trio of Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green and Amen Thompson is one of the most exciting starting trios in the NBA since Amen was inserted into the starting lineup. All three are young with future all-star potential. You can build a future championship team around those three guys.

Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green provide the BOOST 🚀🚀

Sengun: 32 PTS, 14 REB, 5 AST
Green: 27 PTS, 4 3PM (4th-straight 25+ game)

25-12, 2nd in the West for the Houston Rockets.

The offensive possession at 1:12. Alperen Sengun was just toying with the Grizzlies' defense. LOL
And the block against Ja Morant at the end was huge! Stopped the momentum that Memphis had.

To go on the road and beat the Grizzlies. The Rockets would've never won a game like this last year.
With the exception of the OKC Thunder. There's not a gap between Houston and the rest of the West.

Coming into this season I was hoping the Rockets would be a solid 5th or 6th seed. Make the playoffs for the first time in five years.
They're going to end up with the 2nd seed. Because they're on the upswing. They've got all the talent to do it. Can make a trade also.

Although you can make a case once the Rockets get Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason back from injury that's like a free trade for two nice forwards.
