What conference does Notre Dame play in?

Can't tell if this is a joke or actual question, so I'll assume actual question. They don't play in any conference, at least their football program doesn't I think some of the other sports are in ACC maybe?

Imagine being an idiot and going to a conference that doesn't exist and paying 40k in tuition for a sub-par degree.

Notre Dame are part of the ACC, Notre Dame football even played in the conference championship in 2020.

Their football program has to play 5 games vs acc teams every year, though they get Independent status for football.

Never understood it tbh, I assume it's a money thing
