The H-1B visa is a type of non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. companies to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. Here's an overview:
Key Features of the H-1B Visa:

Specialty Occupations:
Jobs requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent). These typically include fields like:
Information Technology (IT)
Engineering
Mathematics
Physical sciences
Biotechnology
Business and finance
Architecture
Education
Healthcare professions

Initial Duration:
Issued for up to 3 years, extendable to a maximum of 6 years in most cases.

Employer-Sponsored:
The employer must petition on behalf of the employee.

Annual Cap:
There is a numerical limit (cap) of 65,000 visas per year, with an additional 20,000 for workers with a U.S. master's degree or higher.

Dual Intent Visa:
H-1B holders can apply for permanent residency (green card) while on this visa.

------------

A bachelor's degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities after the completion of a specific course of study, typically lasting 3 to 4 years (depending on the country and institution). Here's a breakdown:
Key Features of a Bachelor's Degree:

Level of Study:
It's the first level of university education after high school or equivalent.
Often required for many professional jobs and advanced studies.

Duration:
Usually takes 4 years in countries like the United States.
In some countries it may take 3 years.

It's basically the United States version of the Kafala System.
The problem everyone has with this, is that its been nothing but the news for the last two years that Tech STEM graduates cannot find employment. So for elon to come out an claim we just don't have enough people to fill these positions is a bold faced lie.
To which he resorts to just calling the American people Dumb, and Racist instead of addressing the issue honestly, and openly.
They do this because its an indefensible position of the elites yet again using any methods possible to screw over the working class in this country.
Here's the H1B of that Influencer who claimed it was DEI for white people to be against importing foreign workers for his benefit, he's got a video up now about how he made 15 million dollars in 24 hours.

its funny while you're talking ignorance and refericing only the S from STEM, and likely looking at niche localized data.

if you work in STEM in most places in the country you can make a comfortable living, and STEM graduates outpace most other graduates. Why? because most pieces of the "graduate" pie have worse outcomes and there's so much fluff like humanities majors.

sure being a doctor or lawyer has better income, but if you're an engineer who isn't making 100k or close you're fucking up. same for accountants, or people in science.

idk what your post is even about, unless you're referencing pay in silicon valley lagging behind cost of living in silicon valley for run of the mill coders.

You're delusional, blaming the victim. "you're fucking up" *or* we've been f*cked over and abandoned for cheap foreign subservient labour. We're awake to this. You're denying the lived experienced & what is, frankly, obvious.

STEM pay in Canada lags US by a wide margin. Something between 30-50% less. There's a number of reasons but some of the bigger ones are a small pool of potential employers (Canada jobs market is no where near as expansive as the US), huge numbers of educated immigrants flocking to Canada.

Almost 47% of Toronto's population is foreign born. Ethnic Indians are 11% of the city. Many of those don't come here to pick strawberries or work in construction, they came for the tech, finance, engineering, medicine and other high paying jobs. So the natural consequence of that is wages at those historically lucrative white collar professions stagnate, because the supply of qualified labor exceeds the labor demand, so the new price equilibrium doesn't rise as fast as it would in places like the US. Thank your boy Trudeau.

my org has a strong dei initiative

that's why i hired 6 male asians who are recent immigrants

they get shit done but have some language related challenges

Yeah, the only shade and plausible deniability Elon is having most likely southeast asian commenters and posters make about "This isn't Elon"
Is because they claim that Elon stutters, but people who stutter generally do not do so when they are spouting whatever comes out of their mouth without thinking about it.
It was like listening to a 9 year old curse and slur at people trying to have a reasonable thought focused conversation.
There are like 5 or 6 of these spaces published, I'm not asking anyone to actually listen to all of it, just skip to the parts where Elon is responding.

How about making work cool again.
People now-a-days don't feel invested in their communities.

This opens the door for major corporations to take hold.
Walmart is a good example, it closes all the mom & pop shops.

You use to be able to go to the store and know people who worked there.
Now people are moved all over the country/world and you don't know anyone.

This is also why young people don't feel connected to their work.
Instead of them saying 'I worked with local business in my community to help my community',
They say 'I had a job that I hated and only did it for money'.

With this kind of attitude, it's no wonder under-paid labor is being imported.

It also requires Americans to change. Americans go to these huge retail stores and load up on crap because it's all cheap and they love to consoom. They could go to the mom and pop stores but those usually have more expensive stuff, but likely of better quality.

Quality is the same, the consumer likes choice above all.
As far as the other persons complaints about Americans needing to change, there was a countries that instilled those virtues once, and we made sure to completely destroy them and shit talk them to this day.

"its true because i say its true".

i literally said its worse in canada, i literally said its bad in some places in the USA. but i pointed out STEM majors have good outcomes in many places in the USA but have lower supply than what is demanded.

you responded with zero facts and played the victim on behalf of other people who aren't victims because you are a victim yourself in canada. you have battered wife syndrome.

Canada where 10% of our population are low value slaves from India. Funny they have a caste system when their best caste make our coffee in all Tim Horton across Canadas and work low slave wage jobs.
