From human medical and science, obese is a human defined term, referring to weight.
If we take time to read bible(s), Gluttony is not defined as such.
But I'm getting into biblical food law, which most people don't even understand.
And you might say, "you said the word food" Yes but metaphors are not.
Obesity is officially recognized as a sickness. You can be treated. Morbid obesity shortens life span more than smoking, not even talking about the
loss of the quality of life, missed kinky fuck expeiences etc. That's the science part for you.
From biblical point, you get obese by overeating ( gluttony no question asked) and moving too little (sloth). There are people who are obese due to thyroid problems or medications they take but they make something like 5% of obese people at most.
I do, you're right in that the sins of sloth, greed, and gluttony are all related but they are still distinct sins. I suppose video games could be considered gluttony from a consumption perspective, or sloth from an inactivity perspective.
See my edit on thyroid too :)
Greed is translated poorly into English from Latin. Avarice is the correct wording which means hoarding resources for no good reason and withholding access from other people. "Greed" as a sin is not directly related to obesity.
