GP is known for being the armour that can get 4 sockets with the lowest strength requirement. That said, there is no reason to roll Enigma in it as your def will be low and you will take a speed penalty. The optimal base is usually Dusk Shroud. Builds that don’t need 156 strength for Spirit Monarch sometimes roll it in Mage Plate, and assassins have traditionally used Wyrmhide. You could consider other less optimal bases like Wire Fleece or Great Hauberk for aesthetic reasons. Even if you teleport FRW is still important in both PvM and PvP, so I would caution against using a base that is not light armour.

So this would be for PvM.. with that said, Dusk Shroud is the optimal/best base to use and for assassin Wyrmhide is optimal/best?

I always roll gp, full plate and sharktooth.

If you’re not going for style points, base doesn’t matter.

I’d roll bp before I made a mp.

Good point, I found a 15%ED gp with 3 soc's but with the defense being low it wont boost my characters defense much.. that's why I'm thinking dusk shroud instead.

Some assassin players prefer the look of Wyrmhide over Dusk Shroud. Dusk Shroud is optimal base in 95% of cases. It has lowest strength requirement of any elite armour at 77, no speed penalty, and with the 74 strength from Enigma at level 99 you almost reach the 156 strength required for Spirit Monarch. Also, the strength required to equip Dusk Shroud can easily be reached with gear so you don’t need to stat any hard points into strength.

Back in 2002, there were a lot of goth chicks who used Gothic Plate.

Anyway imo spending more FG to base than runes itself is just stupid. Anyway even in PvP if you lose because you had heavy armor just means that it’s all about skill issue, EQ doesn’t make a player you know.
