Back up wing seems the most likely. Plenty of depth at guard + C position. You’re right that PP seems to have clinched the crucial minutes, but even he might find it hard to get any when both Horford and KP are fit. Don’t sleep on Sam yet though, his shooting is returning.
As for who the wing will be…. Fuck knows. The free agent market for wings is bone dry. There’s been trade hypotheticals for guys like Jerami Grant, but without including a rotational player like Horford or PP, as well as a depth player and next years first pick, that is never going to happen. Plus, I’d rather keep our good chemistry in place with a veteran leader who would do anything (like Horford) over some unknown locker room presence (like Grant). But the chances of trading for a big name wing is very very slim. I think we probably just trade someone like springer to ease salary cap, and bring in a no name deep rotation wing.
Totally agree that PP will still struggle to get minutes in the playoffs if the top 6 are healthy. 7th/8th guys will just be fillers for whoever fits the style best at the time. Not sleeping on Sam because his size gives him a massive edge over PP who will be benched in the playoff if he isn't scoring. Size will always get the nod first if both are struggling.
No deal should be made where the top 7/8 gets moved. Chemistry is too good. Finding a vet 3D wing who might be able to play some 4 is the ideal piece imo.
It would be nice to get Yabu from the 76ers
Sucks Springer didn't work out but it's also not the best place to get an opportunity. He is probably gone.
