Within the last few days there's been a push by various Turkish backed rebel groups and HTS militants (Sunni Islamists) out of Idlib towards Aleppo. The Syrian army seems to been have been caught completely flat footed and is in full blown retreat. SAA forces have abandoned Aleppo with the rebels taking control while the SDF (Kurds) swooping in and taking the eastern part of the city. It's unclear at this point if the rebels are fighting the SDF or if there's some truce, but historically these have been enemies. The situation is rapidly deteriorating, as rebels are already in Hama. On top of this, just now there's been reports of sleeper cells being activated in Damascus. This comes at an opportune time as Russia one of Assad's biggest supporters is bogged down with the Ukraine war, while Hezbollah which typically supported Assad is in shambles after engaging the Israelis. It would be a pretty big blow both to Iran and Russia to lose Syria this rapidly. This could also send another wave of refugees towards Europe.

Watch how Russia is going to bomb the shit out of the positions there. You'll notice then how they hold back in Ukraine.

Do these HTS militants/rebels include the (former/present?!) Al Nusra? What is ISIS up to these days? Could they regroup in eastern Syria if a power vacuum forms as the government retreats and the rebels and SDF begin to duke it out in Aleppo?

As soon as the ceasefire in Lebanon was in effect, israel used its proxies in syria to start causing chaos again. This is all about stoping the re-supply route from iran to hezbollah. Assads survival likely depends on the Russian air force and how willing it is to be engaged in the ME

Apparently the city of hama is being routed by the rebels, which is the 4th biggest city. Quite the pace it would seem

Just googled it, the current commander-in-chief of HTS is literally the same guy who founded Al Nusra:

Same old same old.

Don't know too much about them but seen several videos in one they execute some captured soldiers, in another they are shouting allahu akbar and in a third you see ISIS type patches on some them. So it quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

Northeastern Syria is in Kurds hands, while large swaths of eastern and oilfields are in US hands. The push is coming from Idlib province in northwest bordering Turkey. Turkey 100% has a hand in supporting these rebels. I wouldn't be surprised if Israel/US also sponsored them. Israel had 3 main enemies surrounding it before the Gaza war. Hamas, Hezbollah and Syrian government. 2 of the 3 have been severely damaged, it would make sense to take the 3rd one out.

Last i heard is portion of Hama fell to rebels but those gains were rapidly reversed by reinforcements. Both Iran and Russia have urged Assad to hold Hama, that would be a critical loss. I've seen some rumors that Iraqi militias are on their way to reinforce the SAA, but idk if it's true tbh, situation is very fluid.

I am not the comrade, you are. Dems = comrades. Realpolitik is something dems don't understand. That's why you were voted out of all institutions.
