“Hyperinflation” is just hyperbole, for the clicks.. but he’s right. Inflation is going to get worse. Trump will continue to push for rate cuts, as well as tax cuts. This is a recipe for money printing. Government spending is out of control, and they will borrow more.. as they always do.
What recession? The fed acts hawkish, but behave like doves.
What recession indeed. I didn’t say we are in one. I said that is the Feds preferred outcome (mild recession) vs prolonged inflation. We were too tight then, and still remain too tight
I agree current situation is much different then 10/24 as the current administration is going to be highly inflationary. The plan is going to be, imo, to inflate gdp as the major weapon against debt problem.
With that said, I still believe we are too tight. Currently sitting around 2.9%. The 2% goal is a myth and just talk, America has usually been around the 3% mark which we are currently at. Fed funds is still 4.25-4.5%. This fed is fairly transparent and is going to remain on hawkish side. Even 50 basis points of cuts this year (current forecast) imo is still too tight. Fed and admin aren’t on the same page and I think fed would force a recession before having an inflation respike - which I think is the correct approach.
