Story behind the game



Ragnarok online may be classified as many things. It may be classified as an MMORPG, or just an RPG, depending on how you play the game. The story behind the game is to go around, from place to place, killing monsters, leveling up, then as you level up, advance your classes.

Classes include:

1st class
Novice

The first class you'll begin with, you start off with only 1 skill and at this stage you'll have to decide what class you really want to become.

Archer [Hometown: Payon]

Enables you to target enemies within a long range, with high dexterity they can accurately or hardly miss their target. One of the most convenient characters due to their ability to attack or snipe from a distance.

Mage [Hometown: Geffen]

Allows you to use magic spells, weak defense but with their strong intellect they can cast very strong spells that inflict massive damage against enemies.

Acolyte [Hometown: Prontera (Church)]

One of the most appealing class due to their healing, support and warp abilities. They can do little when it comes to attacking but they are the most dependable and sought after in parties.

Thief [Hometown: Morroc]

Agility is their most valuable ability despite of low defense, they have very little skills but they can easily dodge enemies.

Swordsman [Hometown: Prontera]

Known for their power and high defense due to their high strength and vitality. They can wield multiple varieties of weapons, they also have the highest population of players.

Merchant [Hometown: Alberta]

This class is known for their love for money and trading. Using axes instead of swords give them high offense but low accuracy against agile enemies. They are however one of the most useful characters due to their ability to negotiate and their massive storage space.

2nd job class
Hunter/Huntress

Enables you to have a falcon which can aid you during attacks. They can also use traps. One of their most useful skill is Blitz Beat which enables the player to attack with high speed with the help of their falcon.

Wizard

Allows you to cast more massive spells in a wide area. And enables you to gain more formidable and destructive spells than a mage.

Priest/Priestess

Known for their extreme healing abilities, allows you to have stronger support skills and gain the ability to resurrect people.

Assassin

They have increased agile which makes them avoid enemy attack easily. One of the most popular class in RO, (cause they look cool*_*) With their high agile they are invulnerable against attacks.

Knight

They have much increased offense, they can ride the pecopeco which can add strength and offense for the knights. Very effective as offensive players.

Blacksmith

Being a blacksmith allows you to forge and name your own weapons. Also allows you to refine your own weapon and make it stronger, it also allows you to sell your own made weapons to make more money.

2nd Alternate job class

Super Novice

One of a kind class that has almost all the skills that every class has. Super novice is like the combined persona of all classes. They can be physical and mental at the same time. A very good class indeed.

Bard/Dancer

Bard uses musical instruments as their offense while the Dancer uses whips as a weapon and dancing skills, they can also use bow but dancer's skills are more appropriate using a whip. Bard and dancer can make a combination attack called an ensemble when in the same party.

Sage

More concentrated on support, like a blacksmith they can forge elemental weapons. They can now have sword mastery.

Monk

More offensive than a priest, they can now have more offensive attacks than before. Their attack skills can be increased over 400. They still have healing skills but no resurrection like a priest. They can deliver very massive devastating attacks.

Rogue

Very useful class because you are able copy or mimic ability. They now have some of the skills of an archer and a hunter. They can now wield using a sword by sword mastery.

Crusader

They can now have skills of acolyte like healing and support. They also have some of knight abilities. Crusaders can now use their shields on attacking enemies from a distance.

Alchemist

Alchemist class can create potions and increase their effects. They now also have the ability of summoning monsters and creating homunculus.

From the second classes, there is a third class.

Knight -> Lord Knight
Wizard -> High Wizard
Blacksmith -> Master Smith
Hunter -> Sniper
Assassin -> Assassin Cross
Priest -> High Priest

Crusader -> Paladin
Sage -> Scholar
Bard -> Minstrel
Dancer -> Gypsy
Alchemist -> Biochemist
Rogue -> Stalker
Monk -> Champion


Now, there are many different classes, and alot of options, but how do you play? You use the click of your mouse, and semi-like World of Warcraft (This game first) you have your hotkeys as well.

Now, certain private servers will allow for teleporting, and many will have a custom command list, so go ahead and use those.
