server and fun char to play?
no need op or best.
i'm kinda of into rogues how are they
lmk!
Rogues are good PvE DPS, expect people to expect you to be able to bard (A good bard is always a plus, and yes there can be bad ones)
PvP they are about to get a DPS buff in patch 1.5 so they may be OP soon.
Tanking as a rogue in early levels is tough on the healer, so if you plan to pug dungeons, then tanking may be frustrating
Clerics are fun DPS, can be good tanks in dungeons but start to have a little more trouble in raids, although Cleric tank gear won't stop dropping (for us at least, it's like the only thing these days)
Clerics are supposed to be the highest single target DPS roles at the moment
I found cleric heals to be boring... (They are useful in raids though)
Warrior have high dps, and seem to be very good at tanking. Path of the mountain makes them immune to a lot of mechanics, which is a plus for someone that doesn't learn quickly or is having a hard time
People are currently complaining about the being OP as fuck in PvP
Mages can do alright DPS
An Archon is pretty much required in any 20 man raid, and great in 10man raids if they can get their dps to stay high.
Chloro healing is a little tougher in the early levels but a good chloro can solo heal any T2 dungeon at max level without any problems.
Chloro/Lock has a lot of complaints from people in PvP being OP because of it's survivabilty
DPS is good, AoE is it's best bet, but can perform well on single target too. (Although Warrior will generally beat you)
Biggest advantage is the range dps of course...
Overall all the specs are fun if you don't let people force you into a certain role, if you do what you want to do, and what you find fun, there's almost always a role you can fill.
Leveling I would say get a DPS spec, a Support spec, and even a tank spec if queue times are taking forever.
If you put time into getting to learn your character, and finding out what to do in certain situations, you will more than likely have a blast regardless of what calling you are. (This does require a somewhat fun group to play with)
Have fun, and welcome to RIFT

/edit
My main is a mage, Archon/DPS for raids, Heals for T2 dungeons for gearing up guildies, so I may be a little biased.
The day of mage tanks is coming!
