Running 64 bit Win 7 on a laptop with i7, 4 gb ram and 1 gb ATI video card

I can run every other game I play on my computer on decent video settings (d2, WoW, wc3) but with Rift not only do I get a ton of lag while it claims that I only have 67 ms, but the interface lag to open menus, talk to npcs etc is just unbearable. I am sometimes waiting 15-30 seconds just to turn in a quest. However, when I attack computer enemies there seems to be no problems at all, I only experience lag when dueling and with the interface. The game also tends to freeze after about 10-15 requiring me to end it through the task manager.

Is this a common problem that will come as the servers get patched more since its a new game or does anyone have suggestions for what I can do to get rid of this

Thanks!

I tried them at the lowest possible settings, makes no difference for me whether it is at minimal or medium. This is what leads me to believe it isn't a problem with my computer.

5650 aint really that strong card and mobility versions are even worse....

Rift on a laptop is probably not the best idea.

Anyway try downloading new videocard drivers and uninstall the old ones with driversweeper..

yes tried this, but like i said before i can run other games on much better quality without problems, and the only time the game has a noticeable difference with fps rates is when i set it to above medium. Note that my lag is interface/ui lag, not FPS issues. On low rendering I am around 100 fps but still have this issue.

When the rift patcher come up and after u put in your user name and password on the bottom right hanf corner there is a button that says recover. It will re-install the files and replace any bad ones. Try that and see if that helps if u haven't done so already.
