I've read through the threads and I've yet to discover why it's so amazing.

I enjoy it more than wow.

It's just an awesome game. Maybe you should have tried it during beta to see what the fuss was about?

But... neither of you gave reasons, you, like everyone else, just said it's awesome...

I mean, I'm not denying it is awesome, but having never played it, I don't understand why it's so much better than everything else

To me it is a up-to-date MMO that has an enjoyable twist from the norm with regular rift events all over the areas, (not to mention the rift invasions!)
I find myself able to keep busy with this game without losing intrest:

A whole variety of pvp warfronts which also take a nice twist, Black garden warfront for instance:
Hold the "fang"(flag basically) for much faster points (500 to win)
Nearer the centre the map you are the more points you get (6 per tick in centre, scaling down to 1 at edges of map). But also more action vs the enemy!
Oh and while holding it, you are cursed and take increasing dmg from the fang each tick.
Cannot drop! When picking it up you are commiting all the way, be sure for a nearby cleric if possible^^

Anyway i digress, pve i find fun with a great range of locations and tactics in dungeons.
Rift events (quite like public quests that pop up all over the place),
Invasions where you have to defend your towns and outposts from incoming enemys spawning through rift portals, building up to a huge boss of an easy raid standard (even at level 10 it feels epic).
Achievements and Artifact searching for all the grandma's out there who like collecting vanity items and love the achieve points/titles etc! (yes, im a grandma too)
A HUGE array of class combos and roles for endless unique character customisation!

Hmmm, sounds like im selling it now but... there is my attempt at scratching the surface of how much i enjoy the game.
Although i think it's great I have noticed a few people not enjoying it (God knows why!?) In the end this is my opinion and you'll need to decide for yourself, I'm sure there will be a "Refer-a-friend" or "Trial" out in a month or so if your prepared to wait that long ^^

well its a new mmorpg i never played wow due i dont like the char animations etc and how it looks
rift is totally diffrent in that thing thats why i like it
no laggs no disconnects etc
i play runes of magic untill rift release and there i got it that often, that is just annoying^^
gameplay pve/pvp is amazing

Ok basically.. People say "its just like WOW" or.. "Its just like so and so game.." To these people I say: "Why re-invent the wheel?" If you know something works and millions of people pay to play that thing, why would you not design a game around that? Rift takes the best things from every MMO out there and crams it into one game. It is definitely a replacement for WOW.
