your still stating fan boy like comments that wow came out and was new and far superior to pre existing mmo's, it was not period. the only thing wow did over other pre existing mmo's was add high end graphic's for its time and have the name blizzard attacted to it, with how big the sc and diablo2 communitees were it was pain fully obvious that all the already blizzard fan boys would play it as well. ill give it to blizzard they market there game alot better then any other mmo pre existing. i was on beta last nite running around on my 24 assassin alt all the sudden zone wide event pops up and quicksilver college is over ran with lvl 20 elites with 150k hp each like 10 of them along with 100's of smaller elite mobs. no mmo has done anything like this at all, to base a zones questing upon population is very very new and very exciting, not only do the zone wide events bring pubs together to defend land but also bring world pvp to the table because factions are fighting over a prize which ownz. as far as balance goes no idea wtf ur talking about, there have been buffs and nerfs to all the classes, and if you think wow is balanced in any way ur completely wrong look at mlg and arena high rated teams or even raids, all high teams are of same comp or very similar and some raids they do not take certain specs per encounter, how is that balanced? game is 5 years old and yet they still fail to make any class even to the next.
we can debate all day i got more end rant. edit- in no way is rift any think like wow except that it is a MMO.
Use punctuation please; your wall of text is hurting my eyes. I couldn't even see if you were making a point because it is just one giant, continuous blob of thoughts that aren't meshing together well.
What point are you trying to make? That WoW was not better than pre-existing MMOs? When WoW was new, it had little content in it, but that content felt altogether different because it was a slightly different combat system etc. than games like Everquest, since Blizzard put their own "style" into the combat and other systems to make the game feel different. The old formulas that had been proven to work were adopted, and expanded upon. Rift, on the other hand, takes a stale formula and adds a gimmick to it. Gimmicks do not make a game; they are just a temporary distraction. Remove the gimmick, and the game is just a linear version of WoW.
Btw, did you seriously just try to argue something about balance between WoW and Rift?
A ) Balance is impossible in an MMO.
B ) Rift will be among the most unbalanced MMOs ever created; there are too many spec combinations for it to be possible.
C ) WoW is ofc not balanced, if you read my damn post you would see that. But it is more balanced than most other MMOs have ever been.
Please stop using the term "fan boy," that term is most used by faggots.
From the tone of your comments and the idiotic way in which you try to argue, I would say you are, of sorts, what I call a "reverse fan boy." In other words, you seem like the type of person who hates one game so much, you are bowing down to every other game released and calling them god, without looking at them from a critical point of view.
Critically speaking, Rift is a shameless WoW clone. I don't want a clone of a shitty game; WoW is not good. So, as a clone of WoW, Rift won't be good either.
I NEVER said WoW was "good;" I just said that it was the biggest improvement on the MMO formula since Everquest, which is a true fact. Rift is an improvement in the graphical aspects, but everywhere else, not so much.
