you guys are both shallow minded, i have played wow for near 6 years now, wow is for kids that like it easy and can have there cake and eat it too. aion failed due to poor performance issues during large pvp encounters and the fact that if u were a mage and you had wings you could kill anyone. warhammer's pvp system took to long to achieve the highest rank and once there rr80 you could afk and kill fresh 40s no skill involved.
also relevant to rift and wow on release wow had 1 raid and im not even sure how many dungeons it wasnt that many, and they also didnt offer any heroic encounters. yes i agree with Rift has that new feeling, do i think it will kill wow hell no, you cant make 12 million fan boys quit a game they have suckled breast from for 5 years quit there mmo, but it will get alot of new gamers and alot of old school mmo players may come back from there quitting wow cuz it got to easy and really boring to try a new mmo, bashing a new game before its even released and compare it to a 5 year old game that was worse when it released content and completeness wize your retarded and gtfo your just a fan boy.
btw PAUL GIVE ME A FKN SUBFORUM FOR RIFT ALREADY!
I am not shallow minded. I barely even like WoW anymore; it's boring. Think of this as a review by a critic, not by a fan. When I see a photocopy of WoW, all I do is groan, especially when that photocopy does not even try to improve on any of the pre-existing systems. The rifts themselves are the only things that make this new MMO even somewhat interesting; without them, Rift wouldn't even be a competitive factor in today's market.
And I am comparing it to WoW because Blizzard puts a LOT of thought and effort into their original releases. Rift looks like effort was indeed put into it, but not enough effort to compare to other existing MMOs. The difference between WoW and Rift? When WoW came out, Blizzard put the effort into making it FAR superior to pre-existing MMOs. They were trying to make a balanced game, but one that had fun, new elements; ones that were different from pre-existing MMOs, like Everquest. Of course, they were not completely successful in the balanced, fun game they envisioned, but they tried. Rift, on the other hand, makes no attempts to outdo WoW, and does not even try to add anything new to the system. It is literally a photocopy of WoW with a new rift system. And I can already tell the game will fail from the mouths of its developers.
"We do not want to try to balance the class trees." When I saw that, I lost almost all interest in this game entirely. No balance? What the hell is the point in playing then? It will end up just like Warhammer and Aion did: 2-3 specs that can outdo all of the other ones. In this case, "customization" will destroy the game itself. This is what happens when developers create a system that is too complex for them to manage; at least Blizzard is smart in that regard, if in nothing else.
As I said, I am not a fanboy. I am simply waiting for a
GOOD MMO to be created; Rift is not that MMO.
When I hear from beta testers that a game feels the EXACT same as WoW, I do not jump for joy. I just shake my head and move on.
