As a general rule, every soul with a pet = good PvE leveling soul. Pretty much true for any class as this frees you from having to tank as well as providing additional dps.

Well I did that with my mage...Necro.

But...once 2 things agroed me (aka 3 things...which isn't hard to find sadly) I'd be dead...instantly.

lol, I leveled a mage on wolfsbane defiant too... I would pull like 5-8 mobs at a time (full charge pre-pull), and just spam aoe dots, dmg reductions and aoe leeches... kill em all within 5 seconds, and a huge chunk on the xp bar ;).

necro/lock should never die once he hits 16, his pet should never die once he's 21, and nothing around you should live once you're 40.

snarebush is a good server...

This build is really subjective. From about level 30 on a bladedancer / riftstalker / sin build will net you the fastest kills with the least amount of downtime due to the quick CP generation of BD, and Rift Scavenger in RS tree.
