This is something that only a person who hasn't quite grasped what philosophy is about would say.
you know I tried to see if you were right. I looked up on google to find out what is philosophy. You could say it is love for knowledge. You can also see all these definitions about it. But all have theoretical implications. There are no facts involved. You could also call it intelligent speculation about reality and how things out to be. But there is nothing useful. I tried very hard to justify that philosophy is useful. I opposed Hawking's statement that philosophy is useless. But in the end, he was and still is correct about that.
What is the point of debating justice, love, and other made up values that man created? Nothing about that is objective. Philosophy is about finding the truth. And the truth can apply to x,y, or z. It's not enough.
The worst part is college kids paying money to take courses in philosophy that have existentialism as the topic. In the end, they learn the philosophy of nothingness. How the fuck is that useful? O i don't know that I exist, but on the other hand, Descartes has a valid point that a source could exist.
It's still an opinion. No matter how good an opinion or theory can be, it is not objective.
But oh yeah I think I know what modern day philosophy is. It's a way to take college kids money. Something I can do in my brain at home, I have to pay for it now.
Why not just teach the youth to develop critical thinking? Oh yeah thats not good because we can't have too many smart people in America. Lets just dumb down the education system and control the youth on how to think.
And yeah im aware that Aristotle and Descartes were scientific. Even they knew that philosophy isn't useful. They were brilliant men.
