I have a buddy who moved up there for a job years ago

he just lost everything he made over those years

it's sad

no insurance there or anything?

Is the fire related to oil?

bcuz u know what that region is known for it's the epic center for black gold
the place is surrounded by oil companies fracking and extracting tar sands

Your pic is off oil that is so close to surface it oozes up regardless of human interference, it's how the tar sands where discovered.

The fire has to do with extreme dry conditions in a boreal forest, a forest that is designed by nature to burn to renew itself. The town is in the middle of said forest.

The forest needs the fire to continue to exist.

It's the people who are experiencing hardship.

With all the the claims people will be putting through I can't imagine the insurances covering everything

But everyone I know got out alive, so that's all that really matters
