I used to have one. It was fun for the first year. Then the fun ended. What I disliked most was every little movement you or somebody else makes on the bed, causes waves/swells that you get to ride up and down for the next 30 seconds. Another thing I didn't like is due to the water mattress being inside a wooden box, the edges of the bed will always be rigid walls - this is makes it less comfortable for getting in and out of bed. Sitting on the edge of the bed is not a comfortable option either.

I did like that I could control the water temperature, but there is just too many inconveniences to justify having one for me. I sold it at a garage sale.

May be worth noting i think i had what they call a "free flow" style of mattress. There is newer so-called "waveless" ones that i have no experience with.

it sounds like you didn't have a segmented ballon thing... i had one that had like 8 long tubes rather than one large one, and that was nowhere near as noticeable

Waterbed sounds cool but when you wake up next morning, youre going to regret that shit. Your neck/spine will get rekt sleeping on that everyday.

Waterbeds are the worst, well there is worse and that would be a blow up mattress. get a good foam mattress, or something firm with a decent name and a foam top.

I had several waveless ones years ago. I spent $1200 for the last one (leather headboard was pretty comfy and cool)

slept like a baby on that thing. Not good if you have cats mind you.
really liked it. easy to set up frame and all, usually just need a screwdriver.
bad part was moving. i moved 3 times with a waterbed mattress. i left the mattress each time, sitting on the floor LOL. The last two matresses required pumps to pump out the water. Couldnt just turn em over like people think. So i just left them and bought a new mattress for $500 LOL. Damn I was lazy! I had a 3 story condo(garage and washer dryer was bottom floor) and my bed was on top floor. I still laugh my ass off thinking about the landlord wondering wtf this huge blob was doing in the bedroom. He never billed me either LOL. Ah to be 20 and an idiot again! fun times... oh yeah, so waveless beds are the shiznit. as long as you do not move to often. some apts require you to have insurance also, just in case they pop.
