Been looking at this oil called magnatec with it's claim of keep your engine "oiled while its not running. what do you guys think of this oil?

Sounds pretty incredulous. Doesn't all oil do that really?

it kinda does but it kinda doesn't most of it drains to the pan. According to some this stuff remains more so on places that normally drain. supposedly it uses longer molecules. i'd imagine it would help with aging engines and their oil pressure.or in some engines where the cam lobes lifer tappets are a little to dry on startup. castrol isn't a bad oil. but I think i'm just gonna stick with mobil 1

Also, if the cars is not running - the engine parts don't need any oil and it's not like have some steel part "marinating" in oil is going to do anything. Sounds like it's just an advertising trick or they just use an additive to make the oil less viscous, I doubt they could do something to make the oil molecules "longer".

An engine can start firing before oil has circulated fully. And I wouldn't say it's just something to make it more viscous. oil weight is specific to engine. Even in piston rings that are healthy modern syntecs can slip past them sometimes.
There is ester in motor oil I did read something to the effective of lengthening the molecules in the ester.

I shouldn't help you because no one here is worth my time and knowledge, but because you made a thread in the wrong forum I think you are genuine and i like genuine people so I'll tell you.

If your car is 10 years or older or has 200k miles or more, then its OK to use that oil IF you don't live on an extremely cold place.

If its younger or has less than 200k miles or you live in a cold place then do NOT use that oil.

If you use that oil with one of the above conditions, it will drastically reduce your engine life time.

I will not explain why, do whatever you want from this point on.

I have an all aluminum 3.4 liter v8 sho engine this thing gets immensely hot even in cold weather. This is my summer car. My engine has a slight diesel sound on start up but everyone tells me its normal as the heads and metal tolerances expand. but what i want to do is protects it's valve shims more as they need need to be replaced at around my mileage. what forum was supposed to post in?

That guy sounds like a total clown, ignore him. Probably a 10 year old.
You could try this subforum though: http://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=140
Might get some better answers there.
