the new horizon probe is passing pluto in less than an hour
the data collected will take more than one year to transmit

Lol not a year to transmit, you read it wrong. They will be taking photos of Pluto FOR a year. It will take around 416-417 hours for data to reach Earth once its starts to transmit anything.
