Starting work as a wildlife technician in a month. :)

Trying to study up on bird identification. Location is California. Was thinking Sibley's or National Geographic Western North America, because I wouldn't need to flip too many pages to skip birds I won't ever see. However, I read that the illustrations are quite small, and was thinking I might be better off getting the big Sibley's book.

Any birders out there who can weigh in? I'll likely check out a bookstore in person over the weekend, but also don't really want to wait. Thanks!

It's like keying out trees, you need a reference available until you get really good at it.
