Of course, that's where the whole movie enters the classic time travel paradox. They needed to do these things for him to make him save the human race, but he needs to save them before they can do it.

When I was leaving the theater.... I did not feel good lol.... It was an amazing movie but it just didn't make me feel happy when I was leaving(I have no idea why).
As he said, advanced/evolved "beings" do not live within the "laws of physics" that we are prone to.
Therefore they allowed him to see what they knew he could comprehend, and by doing so be able to save humanity. Because the truth is, not many right now in time can comprehend such things.
